Apply to Mentor

We are currently accepting applications for creative writing mentor, music mentor, and visual arts mentor until May 10, 2019.

Eligibility

•Mentors should be experienced, mindful, and creative individuals who have a passion for helping the growth of others.

•Must be available for consistent online communication in the July 15 - August 15 time period for 3-6 hours a week. The fellowship program is flexible, so you can provide feedback on your own time, provided that you do so within 48 hours of the feedback request.

•Over the age of 17.

•Be an insightful and critical thinker who can spark creativity in others by asking the right questions and guiding others to their own conclusions.

Responsibilities

•Each week, fellows will select a mentor from the roster of mentors based on work samples and request formal feedback. A maximum of 2 students can sign up for feedback from one mentor each week. Mentors have 48 hours to respond with formal written feedback, which is approximately 0.5-1.5 page articulating where the work succeeds and where it could benefit from additional improvements.

•Mentors are not responsible for creating curriculum. CAC is a collective and not a class — you will not be expected to directly instruct fellows.

Guidelines

•Please email all applications to counterclockarts@gmail.com and title the email subject line "M_Discipline_First & Last Name.” i.e. M_VisualArt_Cy Twombly, M_Music_David Hall, M_Writing_Marcel Proust. If you are applying to mentor in more than one discipline, please only write your first choice discipline in the email subject.

•Cover letters are welcome, but not required.

•Please briefly introduce yourself and your discipline. If you are a multidisciplinary artist, please list your first, second, and third choice of discipline in order of preference. In the body of the email, please attach a resume and a brief biography with any honors or experiences you might have.

•Include a link to an online portfolio of your work. If you do not have an online portfolio, please see the following guidelines: you are applying to mentor in visual arts, please attach a sample of 5 pieces of your most recent work, as well as an artist’s statement for one or more of these pieces. If you are applying to mentor in music, please attach a sample of 3 pieces of your most recent work, as well as a statement detailing your purpose, style, and vision. If you are applying to mentor in creative writing, please attach a sample of 4 pieces of your most recent work, as well as a statement detailing your purpose, style, and vision.

•Answer the following questions in 3-5 sentences each:

What do the interdisciplinary arts mean to you?

Why do you want to mentor for the 2019 CAC?

Candidates may or may not be selected for interview. Decisions are sent out on a rolling basis.

Thank you for your interest in mentoring for the COUNTERCLOCK Arts Collective.
