Echoes in the Remains
Isabella Lobo
Artist’s Statement
“Echoes in the Remains” is a surreal depiction of the inevitable decay of traditional American living, especially in rural America. The scenery itself is drawn from a reference of the artist’s family farm in the Midwest, the size of which is shrinking from disuse after having seen decades of family life. The objects within the work provide representations of the American family, their innocence inverted with their proximity to each growing abyss and the decrepitude that coats the landscape.
