Artist’s Statement

Often times, I find that many on the surface reject racist ideals but embrace them wholeheartedly when it is encouraged by the general public. I focused especially on the pressure many Asian youth feel to have surgeries in order to obtain more western features like double eyelids and a narrow facial structure. Other subjects I bring up include the War on Drugs by Nixon that criminalized minorities and the government's apathy towards Native Americans. Through my artwork, I hope that people can grasp the feeling of destruction and confinement that comes from facing prejudice.
